Christell Lowery was born October 20, 1934, to the late Harper Williams and Lillie Kilgore-Williams in Mount Willy, Arkansas. The family consisted of nine children: six sons and three daughters.

Christell accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, uniting with the Salem Baptist Church, and as a public confession of faith in Christ, she was baptized by Reverend Hildred. She loved the Lord and was an active member of the Antioch Church Family. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars.

In 1953, Christell was married to the love of her life, the late Miller John Lowery. From this union four children- three sons and one daughter were born. Christell was known for her compassion and caring nature. She was always helping someone, especially children. From rearing her own children, family members, and later providing for foster children in her home until her health failed.

Christell received her education from Gambling State University, Grambling, LA; and was later employed by several hospitals including, but not limited to Laguna Honda and San Francisco General; retiring as a nurse from the Martinez Regional Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Miller Ettain Lowery and great-grandchildren- Ervin Conley, III and Carrie Ja'Nei Johnson.

Christell's legacy will live on in the lives of her children, Bernard A. Lowery, Kenneth E. Lowery, Gail (Rodney) Lowery-Berryman, Annia (Derrick) Crawford-Shelton, and Thea (Kirk) Crawford-Johnson; grandchildren, Maricielle D. Lowery, Sharelle D. Lowery, Shamicha (Edwin) Lowery-Johnson, Sharne (Nicholas) Lowery-Calvert, and Sommer Lowery; a great-grandchildren, Odarrius Featherstone, and a host of other relatives and friends.
