Beverly was born in Martinez, California, the eldest child of the late Bertha and Chester Sims. She was raised in Pittsburg, California and grew up on Carpino Avenue. She graduated from Pittsburg Senior High in June 1966. Beverly passed away peacefully on November 20 , 2014, after 15 years of dealing with the debilitating effects of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), a progressive neurological illness which strikes people as young as 30. She was 66.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years Cal Waite, her four daughters (Letrice Waite, Brandee Waite, Casey Layton, and Jamie Waite), her son Patrick Waite, 5 grandchildren: grandsons Christopher and Cavon Liggins [Letrice], Jyles and Evan Layton [Casey], granddaughter Naomi Sammis [Brandee], sisters Carol Sims, Denise Frazier, Brenda Dames, and Joy Dobbins, and brothers Chester Sims Jr., Donald Sims, and Kevin Sims.

Beverly brought joy, kindness, generosity, humor and warmth to everyone she ever met. She was liked or loved by everyone who knew her. Her spirit soared, and her smile lit up the sky on the darkest nights. She was cherished, and will be missed and loved forever.
